Raze The Roof Mobile Disco

Who Are We?

Raze The Roof Mobile Disco is run by Ray South and Les Nicholas and together we operate a fully reliable and respectable business with many years of experience. Our bookings are on a strict private hire basis only, specifically for birthdays, weddings and private family occaions. We do not belong to any DJ agency and operate totally independently which allows us to offer our customers a more cost effective and personalised service. We do not subcontract our bookings to third party DJ’s or entertainers and do not let others use our name. We are both keen music fans who have worked in other areas of the music industry which we feel gives us an edge on our competitors as we have great music knowledge and understanding. We have access to one of the largest music collections in the South West. We enjoy what we do and take pride in the way we do it.

PLI and PAT Certified

We are a fully legal and registered business. We are insured against loss or damage and have liability insurance (PLI) for up to £2m (a legal requirement). Our equipment is regularly checked for safety and we carry a portable appliance test certificate (PAT). This is not a legal requirement but our customers’ safety and well-being is paramount and we would not operate without this. Some hotels will not permit DJ's without these certificates, so ask to see them. Our certificates are available on request.

Asking For A Price Quote

The information we need to be able to give you an accurate quote is as follows: your contact details, the date required, the occasion, the venue where the disco is to take place, the expected number of guests, start time and ending time. The price we quote is the total price you pay. There are no hidden extras. We do not add travel expenses. We do not charge extra for going past 12.00am and we do not charge horrendously inflated prices just because the booking may be a wedding. All quotes are subject to your requirements and the information you submit.

Booking Process & Written Agreement

For your absolute piece of mind, all bookings come by way of a written agreement and a deposit secures your date. The agreement puts our arrangement in writing and contains all the booking information and our contact details. All initial bookings are provisional until the return form and deposit have been receieved. Two copies of the agreement are posted to you to sign. You keep the customer copy and return the 'return form' with the deposit. The return of the form and payment is needed to both confirm and secure your booking. Once we have taken receipt of the form your booking will be confirmed and secured. If the form and payment is not received within 21 days we reserve the right to cancel the provisional booking.

Payment Balance

The payment balance (the agreed fee less the deposit) must be settled as follows:

FOR WEDDINGS:

The payment balance is due 30 days prior to the event. We require the balance to be paid in advance of your wedding to save us both the indignity of dealing with cash on the night. A reminder will be given around 5 - 6 weeks before your wedding date. Send your payment to: Raze The Roof, PO Box 290, Penzance, Cornwall. TR18 9BN. Please make cheques payable to: “Raze The Roof Mobile Disco”.

ALL OTHER EVENTS:

You can pay the payment balance on the night of your disco. Payments on the night of the performance must be paid in cash. The payment balance is due at the performance start at the latest. We will not accept a cheque on the night of the performance under any circumstances.

FULL PAYMENT IN ADVANCE: (All Events)

You can pay the agreed total fee in advance of your event. This arrangement will be written into the agreement to show you have done so. If you wish to change to full payment in advance a new agreement will be issued.

Your preferred payment method will be written into the agreement.

Cancellations

If for any unforeseen circumstances you need to cancel your disco please do so at the earliest possible time.

·          We will refund all payments received if you cancel more than six weeks prior to the performance date.

·          Cancellations received within six weeks of the performance date will render the £50 deposit non-returnable. If the total fee was paid, the balance less a £50 deposit will be refunded

.     Cancellations within two weeks of the performance date are not subject to any refunds and will require the outstanding balance to be paid in full.

We reserve the right to cancel any booking: a) where circumstance infringes the basic health and safety laws. b) where unsafe and/or unreasonable demand invalidates our insurance or puts us or our clients or their guests at risk. In the event of cancellation due to unsafe and/or unreasonable demand no refunds will be given.

Capacity / Venues

We specialise in events, occasions and parties of up to 250 people max. This is most suited to all private events such as weddings, birthdays and personal occasions etc. We can play alongside bands and other entertainers and have a long successful history of doing so. We have worked in most major hotels, sports halls, large and small function rooms, marquees and at private addresses etc. We do not accept bookings in public houses or wine bars.

Competition and questions you should ask

Feel free to ask for quotes from other mobile DJ’s. We will give you the best price we can for the standard of quality we provide, which we believe is in the middle level of the market place. But how can you tell who’s good and who isn’t. Here are a few hints of what to look out for when booking a mobile disco.

·        Be suspicious of ridiculously low quotes for as the old saying goes: you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

·        Ask the DJ if he is insured against liability and if his equipment is PAT tested, the answers to these questions will show the standard to which he works to. Most major hotels and other establishments won’t let a DJ in the building without these certificates so if he hasn’t got them he won’t be able to perform at all venues. Make sure you find this out in advance as you may find the DJ booked for your function isn’t allowed in.

·        Will the DJ be suitable for your function? Can they cater for your music tastes and that of your guests? Ask him questions and tell him what your requirements are, judge his attitude and how he deals with your questions and suggestions. If he rubbishes your ideas in any way, it may suggest he simply isn’t up for the job or has little regard for what you are really looking for. He may push you into his way of thinking because he may be limited to what he can do.

·        If your quote is ridiculously high you may be paying for something that you and your guests simply do not require: like a 2K sound system or overly massive set up that may cater for more people than needed. Any decent mobile DJ will listen to your ideas and respect your suggestions and your quote should reflect your needs and requirements.

Don’t be pressurised into making a booking, do it when you are ready and in your own time. If he’s more interested in getting your booking without really chatting about what your requirements are then don’t go for it. Book when it suits you and when you are sure you have found the right DJ.
